Clarins Liquid Bronze Self Tanning

Say hello to your brand-new year-round best friend…I’m serious! I am not really a self-tanner, the only time I get marginally tanned is on holidays, when I bake (safely as I can) in the sun, or on previous occasions I have dabbled in the spray tan area (too much upkeep for me!).

So when I heard about the Clarins Liquid Bronze Self Tanning for the face and decollete (that’s pronounced ‘de-co-lo-targe’ for those of us who speak like del-boy) I wasn’t too fussed on trying it. I just put it in the “maybe” category.

Then I started reading peoples rave reviews about it, especially those like me, who are pasty Patsies were recommending it left, right and centre. So naturally, always being one to jump on the beauty bandwagon, I decided to give it a whirl.

I bought mine in Selfridges in London for £17.50, but you can get it a tad cheaper in House of Fraser (£16.oo). You get 125ml bottle of product, which believe me, goes a very long way.

The packaging suggest that it refreshes and softens skin, and I’ll whole heartily agree, it’s just like putting on a light moisturiser. You can chuck it on before bed, or in the morning before putting on make up (I’ve done both, and have to say I prefer wearing it to bed).

There is still that lingering smell of a self tanner on your skin, but that doesn’t bother me enough to stop using it (mostly because I find it smells like biscuits, and I do LOVE biscuits).

I really was surprised by the results, you get a lovely light tan but what I was most impressed by was the fact it just made me look more awake and glow-y.

You can also build this up over a few days to increase the colour, you don’t lose the colour taking off make up, or washing your face – unless you use an exfoliator, which I do every few days if I’m using this as it just freshens things up. You also don’t need a lot of product, they actually advise you to use a cotton pad to apply it which helps to even out the application, as well as get rid of unnecessary usage.

Clarins says:

“A unique self tanner that’s as refreshing as water and as gentle as milk.

The texture dries in the blink of an eye. You can follow application with your daytime moisturiser or a protective sun care product.

A perfectly natural looking golden, sunkissed glow appears over the course of a few hours”

All in all I would definitely recommend this, its a great investment and gives beautiful results.

NB: I did try to take before an after pictures to show but the camera really did not do the ‘after’ picture any justice!

Summer Lovin’ – Playsuits

Yesterday I spent my day outside in the sunshine, doing this…

20130426-100457.jpg

It started with beer and Nandos in the sunshine in Camden. Then we ventured through Chalk Farm, into Primrose Hill and through Regents Park until we got to London Zoo, where we ate ice cream and gawped at the animals.

Something I did notice (and wish I’d worn myself yesterday)…was how many people I saw in playsuits. I love them, I think they’re flattering, really pretty and can be dressed up or down for any occasion.

I’ve had a look through the high street’s collection and found some which I could offer a lovely home to…

My excuse for buying playsuits??…They’re lightweight and take up much less room in your wardrobe or suitcase….that’s my ethos, and I’m sticking to it!!

Bourjois Liner Pinceau 16H Liquid Eyeliner

Even though this little beauty appeared on my Last Minute Make Up Look post a couple of weeks back, I felt it deserved its own bragging rights.

20130422-112134.jpg
I bought this on a whim, as my previous Rimmel liquid liner had dried out yonks ago. I’d also been favouring the liquid pens (which look like felt tips)…but I just wasn’t getting the look I wanted, so decided to venture back to the brush liners.

20130422-105156.jpg
I have to say I absolutely love this liner, I wasn’t expecting to like it so much but it’s so sooooo easy to use that it’s ridiculous, my usual shaky hand syndrome seems to be cured by this brush! I’d definitely recommended it to liquid liner beginners, or someone who’s looking for a quick and easy application.

The brush is nice and thin, so it allows you to draw on delicate pretty lines for a day time look. You can easily build up the boldness though and make a more dramatic statement by pressing slightly harder on the brush, so it expands and the line becomes thicker.

The liner is a bargain as well at £6.99 (Boots), and comes in Brown or Gold – I’m soooooo excited to try the gold for summer!!

Late Night Kitchen Antics – Simple Brownies

Now, the problem with baking late at night is that you often think something is a brilliant idea, then half way through you look at the clock and see its 11pm and you kind of wish you were sitting pretty in front of the TV instead of covered in chocolate goo (ok, that part I enjoyed!) and potentially facing a mountain if washing up.

Anyway, I read on the lovely Emma’s blog that she had recently made brownies, and upon reading this my stomach decided it wanted some, and not being one to stand in the way of my stomach, I went on the hunt for ingredients.

To make simple chocolate brownies you’ll need…

400g caster sugar
225g butter, melted
60g cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 eggs
225g plain flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder

20130421-000034.jpg

Start by turning your oven to Gas Mark 5.

Melt the butter in the microwave and add it to the caster sugar. Give it a good mix up, then sieve in the cocoa powder and mix again, until you get a nice smooth batter.

20130421-000331.jpg

Add in the vanilla and eggs – mix it up, then sieve in the flour and baking powder and carry on mixing.

20130421-000533.jpg

Grease a baking tray and pour the brownie mixture into it, smoothing it out evenly. I added chunks of chocolate onto the top of mine in a last minute bout of inspiration.

20130421-000732.jpg

Pop into the middle of the oven, and leave for 25-30 minutes. Once the time is up take out, and cut into chunks…enjoy warm and totally guilt free (I did anyway!!)

Having read a few rave reviews of the first one for people looking at a career in Media, I thought the Blogging class might end up being quite a good little networking event, as well as being a great pool of useful knowledge, so I thought I would share this with the world, in case you hadn’t previously heard about it…
