Favourites: My Top 5 Budget Face Creams

Lets be honest…looking after the delicate skin that’s stretched over your face is super important!

Moisturising is my favourite part of my skin care routine. I love that beautifully soft feeling you get once you’ve let the product sink in, I also love how much better my make up goes on, and looks when my skin is properly hydrated.

There are some great budget friendly, under a £10 face creams available on the high street right now, my pick is…

No. #5

I bought this on a whim when it was on a buy one get one free offer, and it ended up being such a good find. The lightly tinted moisturiser gives a nice even tone to the skin, it moisturisers well and has SPF 15. I wouldn’t recommend it for oily skin as I think it could end up clogging up pores and just sliding off.

If you have normal to dry skin this would be lovely, it does add a nice ‘glow’ to the complexion, and has the added sun protection. It retails for around £6.00.

Another one to miss if you’ve got oily skin…sorry lovelies! Again it adds a nice radiant glow to the skin, and contains a handy SPF. The aim with this is not to use too much, as a little goes a long way. The nice thing with the Garnier moisture match range is that there is a moisturiser for all skin types! They retail for £5.99.

No. #3

I love Vitamin E creams…and so does my face. I use this cream for holidays and in the winter as it’s so thick it helps to look after my weathered beaten skin.

It’s cheap as chips too at £2.99 for 100ml…it also helps that it smells so nice too!

It took me ages to decide which order 2 and 1 would be. I decided that the Body Shop Vitamin E cream would be in at second, only because I’ve used it less, and have yet to repurchase it!

It’s such a beautifully light cream, it almost feels like you’re applying a watery cream, when really it’s quite thick. It smells really fresh and leaves the skin feeling so soft and loved!

It’s a steal at £5.00 for 50ml, which if used sensibly, will last for ages!

And finally, my No. #1 budget friendly face cream…

20130629-180207.jpg
It was neck and neck with The Body Shop for a while, but I just couldn’t do it.

This Johnson’s face cream is my absolute favourite. I’ve repurchased it 5 times now, it’s so hydrating and leaves my skin feeling super soft, it sinks in in under a minute and leaves no residue whatsoever.

I could no recommend it enough, I use the one for normal skin, but I know it’s also available in a dry/sensitive skin option, as well as a light day fluid for oily skin.

This lot of magic retails for £4.00.

Benefit Fake Up Concealor

Concealer is my thing…I’m always on the look out for the next miracle one, that promises to cover up my dark circles, reduce signs of tiredness and perk up my complexion.

Benefit Fake Up has to be one if my all time favourites at the moment. The packaging is so sleek and pretty. It comes in a twisty tube form and is a good size for any make up bag.

I have shade ‘light’ which is perfect for fair skinned ladies.

20130628-154211.jpg

The product itself is great, it covers dark circles and imperfections well. It’s a very creamy and blendable formula, however I have found you need to set it with a powder for it to stay put and not look too oily.

The shininess and the creaminess of this product is down to the outer balm that surrounds the concealer itself. It adds moisture and hydration to the delicate eye area without irritating it.

It’s great on not only under eye circles, but also spots and blemishes when they pop up. I can most definitely hold my hands up and say this does not cease at all 100%…it’s pretty bloody amazing as far as concealers go!

It retails for £18.50 which is pretty reasonable for the amount of product you get, and use each time.

Clarins Instant Smooth Crystal Lip Balm – Crystal Rose 05

Clarins, oh how I love you!

20130627-135701.jpg
This little beauty has made a sneaky addition to my make up collection and I’m so in lust with it right now. It’s the hybrid of a lipstick and a lip balm. It has a velvety smooth lip balm which is wrapped around a vibrant pop of colour which runs through the centre of the stick.

20130627-140009.jpg
I chose shade 05 Crystal Rose, which is a beautiful universal pinky toned lipstick. It goes on like a dream and stains the lips slightly, so even once the balm has worn off, you’re still left with a nice colour.

I paid £18.50 for this, which I don’t think is too bad as far as pricing goes for a more higher end lipstick.

Avon Small Haul #2 & First Impressions

The circulating Avon book in my office has become my best friend recently. I seem to be placing monthly orders now, which conveniently turn up just after pay day.

I’ve been looking forward to this months purchases, here’s what I got:

Advance Techniques 360 nourishment Moroccan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner
I’m a hair care whore, I love new shampoos and conditioners, and have been meaning to try this range for some time now. I’m going to give them a go to test out, and if my hair loves them i’ll be taking this deliciously smelling pair on holiday with me!

20130626-120818.jpg

Avon Magix Cashmere Finish Foundation – Ivory
Truth be told I don’t need another foundation just yet, but this was on offer for £3, and the bargain queen in me snapped it up. I tested a bit as soon as I opened it up and the shade is spot on. I’m hoping the coverage and staying power hold up too…this could be a little winner!

20130626-121226.jpg

Planet Spa Indulgence Mediterranean Olive Oil – Reviving Facial Gold Glow Gel
Another bargain at £2.75, this gel smells amazing, and looks all gorgeous and shimmery too (although it does t come out shimmery on the face!).

20130626-121914.jpg

And lastly, the Avon Defining Eye Brush
Girls (or boys even!) with hooded or deep set eyes, this style of brush should become a staple in your collection. Use to apply eyeliner in a push action into your lash line to line your eyes without taking up too much eye space! The Avon brush is a nice size and has a good firmness to it without feeling too hard.

20130626-122224.jpg

My little Wednesday pick me up haul totalled the grand price of £11.15. Avon is definitely the place to check for great quality, budget friendly buys!

Bourjois Délice de Soleil Bronzer

It’s been so loooooooong since my skin’s been any other shade of colour except pasty white, so to cheer myself up and try and get one over on the sun, I bought bronzer!

Now I’m not a bronzer person, I’m a bit scared of over-doing it, however a lady in Superdrug (not a sales assistant…just a random browserI met) said she used it and loved it, and she was a lot more pasty than me…it turns out it is possible!!

And so came the purchase of the Bourjois Délice de Soleil bronzer…(it even sounds like summer!!)

20130625-142441.jpg

First off let me get the issue of the sheer size of this out of the way. It’s pretty large; about as big as an iPhone…however that only really goes to aid the amazing mirror you get with it. It’s the perfect size, it’s swizzles and turns around so you can use it in a multitude if ways…

20130625-142746.jpg (flat and tilted up on a dressing table for example)

Onto to the actual product…the shade is perfect, I chose 12 for fair skin and it’s a good match, not too orange which is always a winner.

It looks like it has a shimmer running through it, but once applied to the skin it appears quite matte and gives the skin a nice healthy glow; perfect for a pick me up when the weathers not co-operating!

Application is nice and easy, there is a small fall out of product but that’s to be expected with the firmness of the included brush. I’ve used a softer powder brush and had no fall out at all.

20130625-143334.jpg
I’m not a lover of the brush, it’s quite scratchy and firm, but it does do the job intended…I find it doesn’t blend the product out as well as I’d like, but that’s not a huge deal breaker.

I’ve also heard a few people say about the smell of the Bourjois bronzer being a tad chocolatey…and everyone loves chocolate right? I’ve found it does in fact smell like milky bars (which I love!)…so every time I open it up I instantly feel hungry now.

It’s a bit chunky to keep in my everyday make up bag, but I’ll definitely be keeping it somewhere in my handbag. I paid £8.99 for it, which I think is personally a bargain, I would have paid that for the mirror alone!

Superdrug have all Bourjois products on a 3 for 2 offer at the moment.
