Lust List #1

Today’s post will be short n’ sweet because I’m heading out to The O2 Arena for my brothers birthday meal, and I’m a terribly unorganised person.

I’m on a spending ban for August, on account of saving for my holiday in October, so I’ll just have to make do with lust lists for now (expect a lot of these)…

It’s taken me a while to get on the satchel band wagon. I could never quite find one the right size for me, they were either too big or too small – I’m the goldilocks of satchels. So this one is perfect with it’s structured frame and roomy but not oversized appearance.

Following on with accessories, I seem to be addicted to sunglasses. As much as I’d love a pair of Ray-bans, and I’d definitely get a good wear out of them, I just can’t part with the cash (and I’m extremely clumsy and heavy handed). I love the shape of the Wayfarers and I’ve found a few similar copies from other brands, but the ones I’m currently lusting over are a little bit more delicate looking in the frame area.

My last lust for the fashion side of things are the jeans. I love a good skinny jean, you can so easily dress them up, or casually dress them down. Everyone seems to be going crazy for ripped jeans again, but I think they’ve had their day with me and my cake-loving legs.

Moving onto the beauty side of things, my choices have been pretty standard, I’ve thrown in some haircare that I’ve heard a lot about recently, along with a new yet-to-be-released lipgloss that I’ve heard rave reviews on, and a couple of luxury cosmetic items that are perfect for summer.

Let me know if you’ve tried anything from my lust list, and tell me what you thought!

My Blogging Essentials

As it’s nearly Christmas, I have slowed down a lot on buying beauty, hair care and skin care products. So I thought I’d throw in a kind of ‘general blogging’ post, just basically showing the essentials I use to keep myself organised and keep blogging as easy as possible.

I’m not saying that you need to have all of this to start a blog, it’s just for me, it’s easier if my things are portable, easy to store and travel with as I tend to live between two different houses at the moment.

The first love of my blogging life if my iPad mini, I can blog and edit my posts on the go using the WordPress app (which, after testing out Blogger, I can tell you hands down is a much better app).

I also rely heavily on it to make notes for any ideas for upcoming posts, as well as making lists (I love lists) of new products I’ve heard about, that I want to try out. I went for the mini over the standard size because it’s the perfect size for throwing in my handbag.

Another Apple accessory I now couldn’t live without is my iPad to SD lightening cable.

It plugs into the charging point on the iPad at one end, then the other end has a slot for an SD card. You insert the card, and then go into the photo reel on the iPad, and you can import all the pictures from that SD card. It just saves me so much time…and again I can pretty much do this on the go. The iPad to SD cable for the standard and the mini is available on the Apple website for £25.

Lately, my newest addition is my shiny grown up camera.

You can find my introduction post to it here if you fancy a read, at the moment I’m just learning how to use it properly, and noticing how much better quality my photos are. I love this camera because it’s compact and is so user friendly, even for a camera newbie like me!

If anyone has any tips and tricks for the camera then just leave a comment and let me know!

My New Blogging Friend | Nikon 1 J2

I’ve been blogging now for nearly nine months, and finally I’ve upgraded from using an iPhone to take my pictures.

I think when you blog, especially with beauty products, it’s important to have nice, clear pictures to go with your posts, and the iPhone just wasn’t doing it anymore for me.

So for Christmas I asked the boy for a new camera. I’d heard rave reviews about Nikons, and Panasonics but I knew I didn’t want a huge big bulky DSLR that I had to lug around with me. I wanted something compact, with a good zoom but that still had something near to DSLR features, so a friend recommended a compact system camera. He’d taken one on holiday with us when we went to Florida in October, and after having a quick nose around with it, I fell in love.

I researched, and read up on the many, many CS cameras – I poured over the counter at John Lewis and Dixon Digital picking up every camera and pressing loads of buttons. Then when I was on the Argos website looking for something else, I saw this…the Nikon 1 J2.

It was pretty much everything I was looking for, it was slim, had interchangeable lenses and even had a built in flash. The features on it rivalled all the DSLRs I’d earlier been leaning towards…I won’t pretend to know anything else apart form that, as I’m a novice with it at the moment, I’m still learning new things every day.

So from now on, all my blog post pictures will be taken with this little beaut. I’m really excited to be using a new camera, I’m even more excited that the boy let me have it before Christmas, in exchange for his new PS4…obviously. First world problems eh?

So if anyone has any advice, or tips and trick with this camera, then please feel free to leave me a comment and let me in on the secrets!

The Nikon 1 J2 is available on the Argos website and in-store, and comes in black and white.

The Invictus Trust – Supporting Teenage Mental Health

I’ve popped on to do an extra post tonight, mainly because it’s something that I feel could do with an extra bit of a shout out.

The Invictus Trust is a small charity set up to help and support young people with mental health problems. The charity, and their amazing work is dedicated to a young man called Ben Cowburn who struggled with his own mental health, and unfortunately is no longer with us. Ben’s experience has inspired people to give just a little time, and a few spare pennies to help other young people like him find support and guidance in what could be a terrifying and confusing time in their lives.

To raise money for this worthy cause, the charity has had these bracelets made to raise money and raise awareness …

The bracelets are not your traditional charity style, rubber bands. They’re made from soft suede-like style band, joined in the middle with a small anchor, which is the badge of the Invictus Trust.

The bracelets are such a nice design, and can easily be worn with anything.

If you want to find out a bit more information about the charity then you can find them at, on Twitter @invictustrust, or on Facebook.

If you’d like to buy one if their bracelets, then you can use the ‘contact me’ section on their website, or contact them through their social media outlets – send them a quick message expressing your interest, and they’ll let you know all the details.

The bands and anchors are available in different colours, and are £3.60 each including P&P.

Aldo – Castel Termini Handbag

I take the matter of buying a handbag very seriously. I inspect it from every angle, hold it in both hands, then the crook of each arm, then finally my shoulders.

I look in every crevice of the bag imagining what I could cram in there and inevitably lose for a few weeks.

Then I buy it.

This time I was in Aldo in America and rather than shoot me odd looks, the shop assistant actually came over and showed me the many, many magical ways I could wear the bag and suggested what it would look good with.

I’d seen this bag in Aldo in the UK already so I was pretty sold…

It’s a gorgeous tan leather material, with worn gold stud detailing. The material is really soft without the bag being unstructured. It can be worn three ways; as a shopper bag (seen above), as a cross the body bag, or with the top half folded over and worn on the shoulder, satchel style (seen below).

There’s also a nice big zip pocket on the outside of the bag, which is safely covered over if wearing it as a satchel.

It’s quite a spacious bag inside, so fitting day-to-say things like a purse, phone, ipad and make up bag is no problem. It’s lined with a gorgeous thick cream cotton material, with an inside zip compartment, and two seen in compartments for things like keys and phones.

I love tan coloured bags, because they’re so easily styled with most other items. I’ve heard some people say that tan is a summer colour but I disagree, I think tan looks gorgeous with wintery plums and navy’s.

The Castle Termini bag is available in Aldo in store and online for £55.
