Lust List #1

Today’s post will be short n’ sweet because I’m heading out to The O2 Arena for my brothers birthday meal, and I’m a terribly unorganised person.

I’m on a spending ban for August, on account of saving for my holiday in October, so I’ll just have to make do with lust lists for now (expect a lot of these)…

It’s taken me a while to get on the satchel band wagon. I could never quite find one the right size for me, they were either too big or too small – I’m the goldilocks of satchels. So this one is perfect with it’s structured frame and roomy but not oversized appearance.

Following on with accessories, I seem to be addicted to sunglasses. As much as I’d love a pair of Ray-bans, and I’d definitely get a good wear out of them, I just can’t part with the cash (and I’m extremely clumsy and heavy handed). I love the shape of the Wayfarers and I’ve found a few similar copies from other brands, but the ones I’m currently lusting over are a little bit more delicate looking in the frame area.

My last lust for the fashion side of things are the jeans. I love a good skinny jean, you can so easily dress them up, or casually dress them down. Everyone seems to be going crazy for ripped jeans again, but I think they’ve had their day with me and my cake-loving legs.

Moving onto the beauty side of things, my choices have been pretty standard, I’ve thrown in some haircare that I’ve heard a lot about recently, along with a new yet-to-be-released lipgloss that I’ve heard rave reviews on, and a couple of luxury cosmetic items that are perfect for summer.

Let me know if you’ve tried anything from my lust list, and tell me what you thought!

Christmas Gift Guide

I don’t like to think about Christmas too early, because I just find it drags on too long otherwise, and it loses the magic for me. But as we’re getting closer, and if you’re like me, you’ve only got two pay days before it’s here, then now is the time to start planning.

I’ve put together a bit of a gift guide, which might come in handy if you’re looking for presents for other people, or if you constantly get asked what you want for Christmas, but you have no clue.

Happy shopping!!

Aldo – Castel Termini Handbag

I take the matter of buying a handbag very seriously. I inspect it from every angle, hold it in both hands, then the crook of each arm, then finally my shoulders.

I look in every crevice of the bag imagining what I could cram in there and inevitably lose for a few weeks.

Then I buy it.

This time I was in Aldo in America and rather than shoot me odd looks, the shop assistant actually came over and showed me the many, many magical ways I could wear the bag and suggested what it would look good with.

I’d seen this bag in Aldo in the UK already so I was pretty sold…

It’s a gorgeous tan leather material, with worn gold stud detailing. The material is really soft without the bag being unstructured. It can be worn three ways; as a shopper bag (seen above), as a cross the body bag, or with the top half folded over and worn on the shoulder, satchel style (seen below).

There’s also a nice big zip pocket on the outside of the bag, which is safely covered over if wearing it as a satchel.

It’s quite a spacious bag inside, so fitting day-to-say things like a purse, phone, ipad and make up bag is no problem. It’s lined with a gorgeous thick cream cotton material, with an inside zip compartment, and two seen in compartments for things like keys and phones.

I love tan coloured bags, because they’re so easily styled with most other items. I’ve heard some people say that tan is a summer colour but I disagree, I think tan looks gorgeous with wintery plums and navy’s.

The Castle Termini bag is available in Aldo in store and online for £55.

Keep Warm and Carry On

Those who know me will tell you I don’t do well in cold weather. I love the fashion that autumn/winter brings, but I hate the rain and gusty winds that tag along with it. It’s been even worse in the South East this week, when my return from sunny Florida, was met with the storm we had.

To combat the winter blues I’ve put together a little list of winter requirement which will hopefully see me through to warmer weather…the only thing missing from this was a onesie…one which I have my beady eye on in Next!

…oh yea and I had a salted caramel hot chocolate from Starbucks yesterday. Do it…that’s all I’ll say!

What to Wear on a Long-Haul Flight

Trying to decide what to wear on any type of flight can be challenging, so it’s even more mind boggling for me when I’m flying long-haul – leaving from cold and rainy England, and jetting off to hot and humid Florida.

How to dress for travelling to the airport, then spending 10 hours on an airplane, all before battling the heat at the other end can be a tricky thing to cater for. So I’ve decided that layering is going to be my best option…

20131003-124211.jpg
Jeggings are my go to comfy/casual bottoms, these ones are from Vero Moda. These teamed with a quirky H&M vest and a pretty print H&M jumper can be layered perfectly to allow for the temperature changes in the airport and airplane. My comfy travel shoes are always plimsoles (which I later change into slipper boots on the airplane), these Fred Perry ones are my favourites, as they slip on and off easily. Lastly I finish off the whole thing with a H&M scarf so I can get down and snuggly after binging on all inclusive snacks.

Getting off the airplane at the other side is then easily switched, just throw the scarf and jumper into a big Tote bag like this one below from River Island, and chuck on a pair of ASOS sunnies….hello sunshine!

I’m still totally in love with the high street, and most of them at the moment have their last of the summer stock on clearance!

Throwback Thursday: The Bum Bag

Every Thursday in the world of social media, people around the web dig out their favourite memories of time gone by, and entertain us nosey people with them.

Well this Thursday, I’m going to join in. Remember bum bags? Well gather round kids, if you haven’t heard, they are magical hands free bags!! The things I used to mock in my teenage years and reserved for the likes of over-protective tourists and cringey parents…

Yea, we’ll I bought one…yes I really did! If you were born in the 80’s (the 80’s!!) and grew up in the 90’s then you might remember that it was once cool to go to school discos with your neon bum bag and light up trainers. However once I got to the age of about 12, I did not find myself at the height of fashion any longer, and I put the bum bag into retirement.

The reason I am now going back in time, and once again yearning for my clip on friend is because I’m going to Florida in a little over 8 weeks, and I need something to whack on and keep my mini mouse ears safe when I’m flying around on the rides. My ever practical mother suggested a bum bag, to which I replied…”a what now??”. I actually think my face said much more than I did. I came round to the idea of one though, which is a sure sign I’m getting older!

So I ordered this from River Island for £20. It’s not a complete eye-sore, or horribly unfashionable and I can truly only see myself using it for Florida and a few music festivals…but yes, there you go, I have stepped back in time…

All I have to do now is forget the fact that my friend Georgie said they remind her of testicles, and all will be right with the world!
